JEB appreciates the role of reviewers in the peer review process which allows us to publish quality material promptly.
The reviewer is expected to accept to review the article with sufficient expertise. Any articles that contain conflicts must be reported to the Chief Editor.
The reviewer must submit the reviewed manuscript using the web form provided on the portal. The reviewers are expected to provide transparent recommendations and justifications for their recommendations, either for the acceptance or rejection of each manuscript.
Reviewers should respect that they are a group of people who have direct access to all author's unpublished manuscripts and therefore they must keep all work confidential and must not misuse them.
The reviewer should evaluate the introduction, methodology, results, and discussion, and discuss whether this fits the JEB template.
The reviewer must identify gaps that will or must be addressed to provide a better understanding of the results.
Reviewers should comment on how articles are often improved in terms of focus, style, and length.
The reviewer should check that the references are relevant, current, and in the correct format.
The reviewers comment general originality of the work and its contribution to the sector.
Reviewers should review submitted articles again after substantial enhancement.
