Journal of Edukasi Borneo (JEB) welcomes a multidisciplinary open-access journal with blind peer-reviewed articles in educational research areas for Volume 3, issue 2, 2022. JEB takes into account original research and reviews articles in broad topical fields: Curriculum Development & Teaching Study; Education Policy; Test, Assessment, & Evaluation; Leadership & Management in Education; Education of Religion; Psychology & Counselling in Education; Information & Communications Technology in Education; Professional Development & Teacher Education; and Early Childhood & Young Education. An objective and constructive approach to peer review is conducted by our academic editors, assuring each manuscript is assessed by scholarly merits and research integrity. Three types of manuscripts are published in JEB: substantive papers of up to 8,000 words, and short pieces of up to 3,000 words describing Research-in-Practice or Research-in-Progress. Papers are published in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

Dampak Penggunaan Multimedia dalam Pendidikan Menengah: Sebuah Studi Kasus

The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of using multimedia in teaching in one of the public junior high schools (SMP) in West Kalimantan. This research was a multi-case study involving 47 teachers and a school principal. Data was collected by observing directly at the research site. Interviews with semi-structured questions and document analysis were also carried out. The data, then, were analyzed thematically. The research findings covered six aspects of multimedia-based learning, including learning resources, teaching materials, use of audio and visual, computer-based learning, and teaching aids. They also emerged more varied learning, availability of subject matter for students that can be accessed anytime and anywhere, teachers had begun to be enthusiastic about deepening understanding related to multimedia because this was a basic need in supporting effective learning, and principals and teachers were also committed to continuing to develop themselves for the sake of progress in the field of education in schools. The implication of this findings was that the impact of multimedia can improve learning activities at the junior high school level.

 

Abstrak

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi dampak penggunaan multimedia dalam pengajaran di salah satu sekolah menengah pertama (SMP) Negeri di Kalimanatan Barat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian studi kasus kolektif yang melibatkan 47 guru dan seorang Kepala sekolah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara mengamati langsung di situs penelitian. Wawancara dengan pertanyaan semi-terstruktur dan analisis dokumen juga digunakan. Data, kemudian, dianalisis secara tematik. Adapun temuan penelitian mencakup enam aspek pembelajaran berbasis multimedia, diantaranya sumber belajar, bahan ajar, penggunaan audio dan visual, pembelajaran berbasis komputer, dan alat peraga. pembelajaran lebih variative, ketersediaan materi pelajaran untuk siswa yang dapat diakses kapan dan dimana saja, guru-guru sudah mulai antusias memperdalami pemahaman terkait multimedia karena ini merupakan kebutuhan pokok dalam mendukung pembelajaran yang efektif, dan Kepala Sekolah dan guru juga berkomitmen untuk terus mengembangkan diri demi kemajuan dalam bidang pendidikan di sekolah. Implikasi temuan ini adalah dampak multimedia dapat meningkatkan kegiatan pembelajaran di tingkat SMP.

The purpose of this study was to explore the application of student-constructed questions-based learning in the learning of arithmetic sequences for 34 students of class XI in one of the Islamic madrasah aliyah in Pontianak. This research was a pedagogical action research developed by Norton (2009). The research involves observing, planning, acting, and reflecting activities. Learning begins by giving students a story text, grouping students and assigning groups to make open-ended questions as well as their solutions, and asking other groups to respond to the questions. The data collection technique used tests and interviews. Then, the data were analyzed descriptively and thematically. The results of this study indicated that there was an improvement between the pre- and post-test scores. Qualitatively, SCQ could reduce cognitive conflict and improve classroom learning. Thus, the implication of this study was that SCQ with open-ended questions coul improve learning outcomes and reduce cognitive conflicts.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi penerapan pembelajaran berbasis student-constructed questions dalam pembelajaran barisan artimatika pada 34 siswa kelas XI di salah satu madrasah aliyah negeri Pontianak. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan pedogogis yang dikembangkan oleh Norton (2009). Penelitian melibatkan kegiatan observing, planning, acting, dan reflecting. Pembelajaran dimulai dengan memberikan siswa teks cerita, mengelompokan siswa dan menugaskan kelompok membuat soal open-ended sekaligus penyelesaianya, dan meminta kelompok lain untuk menanggapi soal tersebut. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes dan wawancara. Kemudian, data dianalisis secara deskritif dan tematik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan antara nilai pre-dan post-test. Secara kualitatif, SCQ dapat mengurangi konflik kognitif dan meningkatkan pembelajaran di kelas. Dengan demikian, implikasi penelitian ini adalah SCQ dengan soal open-ended dapat meningkat hasil belajar dan mengurangi konflik kognitif.

This study aimed to describe the use of blogs and smartphones in learning English in a class X high school in Pontianak, West Kalimantan. This research employed a classroom action research involving 30 students and a collaborator. This research procedure involved four phases, planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data collection used pre- and post-test and direct observation. Observation was carried out by observing directly the learning process in classroom. Then, the data were analyzed descriptively. The findings of this study indicated that the integration of the use of blogs and smartphones could improve student activities and learning achievement. Thus, the implication of using blogs and smartphones was to help improve teaching and learning of English in learning to reading comprehension on recount text as knowledge in educational practice at the high school level.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan blog dan smartphone dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di salah satu sekolah menengah atas (SMA) kelas X di Pontianak, Kalimantan Barat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang melibatkan 30 siswa dan seorang kolaborator. Prosedur penelitian ini melibatkan empat fase, perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Pengumpulan dilakukan dengan menggunakan pra-dan pasca-tes dan observasi langsung. Observasi dilakukan dengan mengamati langsung pembelajaran di kelas. Kemudian, data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Adapun temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi penggunaan blog dan smartphone dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa. Dengan demikian implikasi penggunaan blog dan smarphone membantu meningkatkan pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dalam pembelajaran membaca pemahaman recount text sebagai salah satu pengetahuan dalam praktik pendidikan di tingkat SMA.
